What Is Wrong With US?

Specifically, what is wrong with DL Foster? I will never, never, never understand how people of color (particular Black folk) cannot see the amazing parallels between being gay and being Black. As a Black gay man, they are obviously apparent to me since I have to live with this kind of bigotry every day from my community while fighting institutionalized racism in our greater America.

And what gay emperor does he refer to? This reminds so much of the people that fought (and continue to fight really) against civil rights for Blacks. Ignorant.

Ultimely, I have to ask, "what is your beef? Why are people like Mr. Foster threatened to the point of action. It takes a lot of work to blog daily (I know you all feel me). You have to be committed to you idea. Is he really that against gays that he needs to blog daily about us struggling just to have simple and basic human rights and equality?

It amazes me that so many do it in the name of the Lord. In one entry Mr. Foster criticizes Al Sharpton for his end homophobia campaign. He tells Mr. Sharpton that homophobia is not a sin because it is not even mentioned in the bible. Excuse me but didn't Jesus say, "love thy neighbor as thyself"? and more importantly didn't he say "why beholdst thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thy own eye?...Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out a mote that is in thy brother's eye."?

  1. Amen. It upsets me terribly, but as a white girl I don't feel like I can get all up in black folks' grills about how it's a similar civil rights struggle. I guess I'll have to save my grill gettin' for homophobic honkeys.

P.S. I may have blogged about this -- I feel like all this fervor is created by Bush & Co. to take the focus off of things that the black community SHOULD be furious about, i.e. the economic policies that continue to harm black communities, and the foreign policy that continues to send young people of color (mainly) overseas to die. Arrgh.

P.P.S. On a happier note, congrats about Schoolhouse!
